Adult Confirmation Class

All members of Temple Israel are eligible to be confirmed in a year-long program described below. Most of the classes are open to the public as well. A full description follows, with a link to the schedule which includes an identification of which sessions are open and which are closed.

The class will be held on selected Wednesday nights at 6:00 pm starting on November 1, 2017. Confirmation takes place when a person "confirms," as an end-product of a process of careful study and exacting exploration, a commitment to Judaism and to Jewish life. This process will culminate in a special ceremony at the season of Shavuot on Friday night, May 18, 2018, at 5:30 pm. At that service, students who have attended 75% of the classes will be confirmed as they lead the service and participate in the reading from the Torah. They will also prepare a special project as a group, in keeping with the importance of communal and social action that is at the heart of Reform Judaism.

While the presentation part of the programs will be open to the congregation and community at large, there will be also periods for conversation that are "confirmands-only."
